The town is situated in the Waterberg District of the Limpopo Province, and it lies off the N1 road between Pretoria and Polokwane (Pietersburg). Its hot springs produce 22, 000 litres per hour at 52 °C (126 °F). Polokwane offers an extremely pleasant climate for most of the year. With almost all-year-round sunshine, it can get rather hot in the summer months (October to March) averaging 27°C. The lowveld is less forgiving in the swelter of summer afternoons, with a reach of 45°C. Generally, however, visitors to the Kruger National Park area can expect temperatures around 30°C.
