Bucklands is a 5500 hectare reserve situated in the heart of Frontier Country and is home to a various antelope, mammal species, reptilian and avian species. Prior to 2007 Bucklands was a stock farm and since then the Stewart family has transformed Bucklands into a game reserve with the introduction of antelope and game species through game releases and with the introduction of our Buffalo and Sable breeding initiatives. Guests visiting Bucklands can be accommodated at the Bucklands Lodge at a self catering basis which is completely solar powered in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.
Bucklands Lodge is completely solar powered, offering 4 luxury double suites, all of which have modern en suite bathrooms. Each suite has been individually designed and has been classically furnished with the highest quality crisp linen and soft furnishings.
Bucklands Lodge has a comfortable sitting room, with other guest areas being the formal lounge and dining room, verandas and swimming pool offering majestic views over the rolling valleys all the way to the Hogsback, Gaika's Kop and the Winterberg in the distance. Game can also be viewed grazing on the plains from the comfort of the verandas.
Game Reserves (especially in South Africa) are large areas of land set aside and protected for wild animals.
South Africa still has a wealth of wild animals. We also have a beautiful list of birds that you will find at most of our Game Reserves.
