A game reserve is a large area of land where wild animals live safely, where you can find and at the same time observe wild animals in their natural habitat. The focus of a game reserve is specifically the animals (fauna), whereas a nature reserve also if not equally is concerned with all aspects of naturally-occurring life in the area (plants, animals, insects, etc.).

Important to realize that most game reserves in Africa are located in South Africa. For the most part they are open to the public, and tourists commonly take sightseeing safaris. Historically, among the most well-known sightseeing game reserves were the so-called Big Five game in Africa: rhinoceros, elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and lion, named so because of the difficulty and danger in hunting them.

Private Game Reserves

Why is the game viewing overall better in Private Game Reserves? Safari vehicles can also go off road. Generally speaking in a National Park you will be limited to animals visible from the main roads. When coming across an animal sighting you will properly have to jostle for potion to get the best view. This is rather limiting. Accordingly Private game reserves are at the end of the day just that, private and personal. They therefore permit you to experience Africa’s wilderness in a more genuine style. In fact this is where you will see Africa’s animals in their natural environment, undisturbed by the vehicles around them.

We are spoiled for choice in South Africa with our many game as well as natural reserves. Consequently it does not matter if your preference is fauna or flora, we probably got you covered.

In conclusion we prefer Private Game Reserves however we still love to visit South African Game Reserves.
